Mountfield SP46

The Mountfield SP46 46cm self propelled lawn mower is a great little mower aimed at small to medium sized lawns. Being self propelled it powers itself meaning you don’t need to push and it takes the hard work out of gardening for you. Thanks to the quality components together with the robust steel chassis that has been powder coated in the traditional “Mountfield red” this SP46 really has been built for longevity.

The 46cm cutting width is generous and will ensure you get your grass mown in no time at all. The 6 pre-set cutting heights range from 22-65mm and offer plenty of versatility whatever the length of your grass. Easy to change the heights with a single lever you will soon have your grass neat and tidy.

The Stiga ST140 OHV auto choke 4 stroke 139cc engine is powerful, reliable and low on maintenance. Easy to start up with the standard recoil rope system you can be assured of reliable starts even in damp weather.

This versatile Mountfield SP46 46cm self propelled lawn mower offers you the choice between collecting, mulching or discharging. If you choose to collect then the sturdy canvas grass collector has a 60 litre capacity and features a clever bag full indicator and a hard top to minimise dust flying up as you mow your lawn. Very useful in dry and dusty conditions.

If the grass is longer and you decide you’d rather it wasn’t left to rot on your compost heap you can choose to discharge it, either from the back or side. It will wilt naturally on your lawn, however if you think it is at risk of being trodden into your house by pets or children then you might prefer to collect it.

If the conditions are right for mulching you will be pleased to know the efficient system finely cuts the grass clippings and returns them to your lawn where they will act as a natural and rich fertiliser. Mountfield suggests if you don’t have to collect the grass and empty the grass collector this could save you up to 30% of your time - this is a very attractive idea, we think so anyway! The mulching plug is included as standard.

This Mountfield SP46 features operator presence control which means the engine only runs when you are holding onto the handles. Let go and the engine simply cuts out and of course the blades will stop. This means the machine cannot be left to idle - this saves on petrol but also cuts the risk of accidents. We believe this is a great safety feature, as the machine cannot be accidentally started which is great if you have children in the vicinity. The handles also fold flat for storage, perfect if space is at a premium or you need to load it into the back of your car.
