Powered by the Stiga ST120 Autochoke 4-Stroke 123cc engine that gives you 1.9kW of power (@ 2900 rpm) you will soon see excellent results with a minimum of effort. The standard recoil starter is easy to use and reliable. Being hand pushed you will maintain good control of this machine at all times. However, if your lawn is on a slope, you might want to consider the SP42 self propelled model.
The steel cutting deck offers a 42cm cutting width and being hand pushed is useful for manoeuvring around garden objects, such as trees or garden furniture. The 6 cutting heights range from 22-65cm - ideal for all situations, whatever the length of your grass.
If conditions allow it, you can choose to mulch using the handy mulch plug which comes as a standard accessory with this Mountfield HP42. If you choose to mulch the grass clippings are recycled back onto your lawn where they will act as a natural and rich - not to mention free - fertilizer. Ensuring your lawn stays green and healthy, and saving you valuable time and money.
If you choose to collect, you will be pleased to note the collector is a generous 60 litres and features a handy “bag full” indicator. This will stop it being overfilled, which would lead to you having to empty a clogged up chute by hand - a messy and time consuming job!
Mountfield take your safety very seriously indeed and this HP42 petrol lawnmower is no exception - featuring an Operator Presence Control system which means that if you let go of the handles the engine will cut out. The recoil system ensures that a child would not be able to come along and start the machine at the touch of a button so if you've got children around you couldn't ask for a safer machine.
Weighing just 23kg you will enjoy working with this machine - it's easy to operate and also much quieter than you might expect from a petrol powered lawn mower.
