One of the Mountfield SP555 V's stand-out features is the Twinclip cutting technology. The first cutting edge reduces the length and then the second cutting edge reduces it even further to leave you with a very neat cut. The superior Twinclip blade has four cutting surfaces instead of the traditional two, therefore this innovative system makes cutting the grass a breeze and will leave you with an excellent finish. The extra fine clippings are then efficiently blown into the large 70 litre collector - Mountfield suggest this system increases collecting performance by around 20%.
Mountfield have chosen the NEW premium high-powered Honda GCVx170 auto choke engine to power this SP555 V lawn mower. The heavy-duty aluminium high torque cone clutch transmission with a torque convertor offers smooth acceleration through an infinitely variable range of cutting speeds. Reliable and easy to start this engine has been chosen for its powerful capabilities and will last you for years to come, requiring very little in the way of maintenance. Being self-propelled, you won't need to push this SP555 V, simply turn it in the direction you want to go, and it will keep your pace going as slowly or as quickly as you need it to. This is a great system if you have a lot of grass to mow or your garden is sloping.
The unique hybrid chassis is durable and hard wearing, thanks to its galvanised powder coating and the onboard washing link ensures you can keep it in tip-top condition. Air flow is maximised by the perfect shape of the conveyor and the fins moulded to the anti-scalp plate at the front of the mower. The anti-scalp plate will ensure you achieve a neat smooth finish even on the lowest setting.
The generous 53cm cutting width ensures this Mountfield SP555 V 53cm self-propelled lawn mower is ideal for larger lawns of 50m x 50m and the height of cut is easy to change using a single lever. There are 7 preset positions that range from 25mm to 77mm which means this Mountfield SP555 V is ready for any conditions you need it for. If you decide to mulch, then you can easily attach the mulching plug that is included as standard. Instead of collecting in the 70 litre grass bag you can choose to return the grass to your lawn where it will act as a nutrient rich fertilizer. You will save money as there will be no need to buy additional fertilizing products as the mulched grass will be rich in everything your lawn needs to look green and lush. Mountfield suggest if you don't collect your grass then you can save around 30% of your time which can be spent on other tasks.
Featuring operator presence control you can rest easy knowing that your lawn mower can never be left to idle by accident meaning that a child cannot operate it in your absence and you will also save on petrol. If you let go of the handles for any reason, the engine stops - which lowers the risk of an accident while you are working. This is a great feature if you have children in the vicinity. The simple recoil start will ensure you get going quickly again.

The vibrations you would traditionally feel in a powerful mower such as this have been drastically reduced and now your hands and arms will feel more comfortable as you work. The handlebars themselves can be adjusted to 3 different positions so you can find one to suit your stature. Again, this increases your comfort and allows you to operate your lawn mower easily. A simple one motion click and the handle bars can be folded down over the engine to ensure they can be stored easily, taking up as little room in your shed as possible.
