The first thing you will notice is that it is highly manoeuvrable thanks to the lack of a grass collector on the back. This gorgeous ride-on also offers you excellent all-round visibility allowing you to make sure every area of your garden is mowed and left looking neat and tidy. You won’t be making any trips to the compost heap so it's safe to say that the Mountfield 1543H-SD will enable you to mow the lawn faster and more efficiently than with a collecting model.
The grass is discharged and spread out over your lawn neatly where it will wilt quickly and evenly, but if you are mowing more frequently and wish to ensure your lawn grows as green and lush as possible then you can use the mulching kit. The grass will be cut and then re-cut into even tinier particles that literally disappear into your grass before you can say Mountfield! They then act as a natural and not to mention free grass fertiliser, saving you a trip to your local garden centre and of course mulched grass is 100% natural and free from packaging so all in all its better for you, your grass the planet and the wildlife in your garden - it’s a no-brainer really!
Mountfield have incorporated a reliable and powerful 452cc Stiga ST500 Single cylinder engine into this Mountfield 1543H-SD side-discharge garden tractor and this means you’ll have all the power you need to work as hard as you need to. This vigorous engine benefits from an overhead-valve (OHV) configuration which means it runs cleanly, quietly and extra efficiently. This powerful engine drives the smooth hydrostatic transmission which works very similar to an automatic car. You simply press or depress the foot pedal to select from an infinite number of speeds, which means you set the pace to suit you and the job in hand. Manoeuvrability is top notch on this and you can even switch from forward to reverse gear just by changing the pedal.
This Mountfield 1543H-SD comes with a generous 108cm/43in working width cutter deck which means you can get larger areas of lawn mowed with no ifs or buts. The easy to adjust cutting heights range from 25-80mm with 7 settings. This means you can tackle longer grass with no problems, quickly getting it down to your required length, but if you are just maintaining a perfectly neat and tidy lawn then the lowest setting will do this for you with no questions asked. The tight turning circle of 130cm turning-radius makes this an extremely agile machine - you can get into tighter spots and reverse out with ease. Mountfield suggests that this model is ideal for lawns and rough-grass areas up to 3 acres.
Most Mountfield owners take pride in their machines - who wouldn’t want to keep that “Mountfield Red” paintwork looking its best every time you mow? A quick hose down and maybe a polish is all you need to do. But don’t forget the handy deck-wash port which allows you to attach your garden hose and rid those sharp blades and the cutter deck of dried grass, so you can be sure of a perfect cut next time. For additional flexibility you can also use the tow hitch that allows you have the choice of a variety of optional accessories - such as a roller, an aerator or even a trailer, making the Mountfield 1543H-SD one of the most useful and versatile models on the market today.
